This alliance also reflects the club’s firm commitment to adopting the latest technologies and innovations in data analysis, with the aim of enhancing its distinctive competitive advantagesin the football industry. It also provides our students with the valuable opportunity to actively participate in data analysis projects in direct collaboration with the institution.
Real Sociedad and Sports Data Campus sign strategic partnership to work together on data analysis projects
From its beginnings in regional competitions to its establishment in Spain’s La Liga, Real Sociedad has woven a rich and diverse history and has stood out as a beacon of excellence over the years. The club is recognised as one of the most successful youth training academies, with a well-established methodology that has been an essential breeding ground for young talent, not only enriching the team’s ranks but also contributing significantly to the performance of the Spanish national team.
The blue and white team achieved the feat of winning the La Liga First Division title twice in a row during the 1980-81 and 1981-82 seasons, the latter of which served as the impetus to add another trophy to their cabinet: the Spanish Super Cup, won in 1982. In addition, the team can boast several victories in the Copa del Rey, with titles won in the 1908-09, 1986-87, and 2019-20 seasons. The women’s team has also made its mark by winning the Copa de la Reina in 2019.
The agreement with Real Sociedad and Sports Data Campus will provide students with professional internship opportunities
The various collaborations with Real Sociedad’s Data Unit will be coordinated and carried out by the Sports Data Campus Professional Outreach Department, focusing on the development of new projects that always aim to make the most of data in the service of different aspects of the game, from the youth teams to the first team. In this vein, Real Sociedad will be able to welcome students from the various Sports Data Campus Master’s programmes to carry out training internships within the club’s sporting structure. In addition, projects can be defined which, as part of our students’ investment training strategy, can be carried out within the club. The ultimate goal is, without a doubt, to enrich the experience of our students, add value to the club, and promote a mutual exchange of knowledge with one of the most representative teams in LaLiga.
In addition, students will be given the opportunity to actively participate in data analysis projects proposed by Real Sociedad, with Sports Data Campus defining the scope and assigning tutors to ensure the success of these initiatives.
