As part of their commitment to excellence in education and the integration of technology in sport, Sports Data Campus and RC Deportivo have signed a strategic collaboration agreement. This alliance seeks to bring academic knowledge closer to the professional football environment, strengthening the use of data analysis and Artificial Intelligence as key tools for sports development.
The agreement includes multiple lines of joint work that will benefit both RC Deportivo and Campus students, enabling applied knowledge transfer in the day-to-day reality of professional football.
Real Club Deportivo
The history of Real Club Deportivo dates back to the early 20th century, when football arrived in the city from the United Kingdom. In 1904, the first major match was played, and in 1906 Club Deportivo de la Sala Calvet began operating. In 1912, RC Deportivo won its first official title, the Copa España, officially recognized by the RFEF more than a century later, in 2023. Its history is marked by passion and the deep roots of football in the city.
RC Deportivo has won seven official titles throughout its history: one LaLiga title (1999–2000), one Copa España (1912), two Copas del Rey (1995 and 2002), and three Spanish Super Cups (1995, 2000 and 2002). It is one of the nine clubs to have won the Spanish First Division and has finished as runner-up on five occasions: 1949–1950, 1993–1994, 1994–1995, 2000–2001 and 2001–2002.
In promotion football, it has been champion of the Second Division on five occasions: 1961–1962, 1963–1964, 1965–1966, 1967–1968 and 2011–2012, and champion of the Third Division in its only appearance in that category, in 1974–1975. In addition, in its early years, the club won six Galician Championships between 1927 and 1940.

Nacho Lourido, Technology Director at Real Club Deportivo, said: “From the club, we are taking a step forward in our commitment to innovation and education, opening our doors to students who want to grow professionally in the football environment. Through this alliance, we will develop joint projects, host internships and generate synergies that will help us continue evolving in data analysis and talent development. We are delighted to begin this journey together.”
In the words of David Sáez, CEO of Sports Data Campus: “It is a source of pride for us to add a club of the stature of Real Club Deportivo to our ecosystem of collaborators. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the club and, especially, Nacho Lourido for making this agreement possible.
From now on, our students will be able to continue undertaking internships at the club, where they will put into practice the concepts acquired in their master’s programs, and they will also be able to collaborate on other projects, in different formats and modalities. Without a doubt, this is a unique opportunity to continue acquiring the skills and competencies needed to access professional football.”
