Sports Data Campus and Driblab have renewed their collaboration agreement, enabling students across a range of master’s programmes to continue learning with the football data consultancy’s analytical tools and the expertise of its professionals.

Sports Data Campus and Driblab Renew Their Collaboration Agreement

The renewal, announced in February 2023, strengthened the relationship between Sports Data Campus and Driblab, a Spanish consultancy specialising in statistical analysis of football players and teams. The agreement would give students continued access to innovative tools and the knowledge and experience of leading professionals in advanced analytics and business, including the company’s CEO, Salvador Carmona.

Two Masterclasses Connecting Football Data and Scouting

The agreement included two masterclasses for Sports Data Campus students:

“How Big Data Are Used in Player Replacement”, delivered by Salvador Carmona, for students on the MSc in Data Analytics in Football.

A Shared Commitment to Education and Innovation

Salvador Carmona, CEO of Driblab, commented:

“It is very important for advanced statistics and sports data to have educational spaces such as Sports Data Campus, undoubtedly a benchmark in training and education for anyone looking to build a career in this industry. It is a pleasure to collaborate with them and for Driblab to be part of the master’s programmes and courses they deliver, to which we will contribute our experience and innovative outlook.”

Alejandro Arroyo, working in content at Driblab, added:

“There is no doubt that scouting and advanced statistics have long been intertwined in every stage of talent identification. Data act as an essential information filter, saving time and costs, and knowing how to use them alongside the available tools is fundamental to being a good scout. Thanks to Sports Data Campus, we have the opportunity to contribute our expertise by supporting their renowned training courses.”

David R. Sáez Ávila, CEO of Sports Data Campus, said:

“It is a source of great satisfaction for Sports Data Campus to renew our partnership with Driblab, a company that has been alongside us since our beginnings. This new stage will allow us to continue developing and promoting strategies for innovation and transformation in football and sport through the use of data, strengthening the training of professionals in the sector and contributing to their development. We are confident that the initiatives carried out through this collaboration will create opportunities for our students.”

Football Analytics to Support Better Decisions

Driblab focuses on statistical data analysis to help clubs with sporting planning. The football Big Data consultancy offers services tailored to each client, combining a hybrid management model with ongoing communication to support organisations in their day-to-day work.

Its role is to advise clubs and minimise risk in professional football decision-making, particularly in talent identification and player profile assessment. At the time of the announcement, its database covered more than 180,000 players across over 180 competitions, providing information on teams around the world.

These resources would help students understand the work carried out within clubs and how analytical tools can anticipate developments in the transfer market while saving scouting departments time and resources. Applications include identifying promising profiles, standout players, footballers making positive progress, academy players in good form and players making their debuts.

We are delighted to continue this journey with Driblab!
