Strengthening the future of athletes: partnership between Sports Data Campus and Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD), through the High-Level Athlete Support Programme (PROAD)

In the world of high-performance sport, achieving success requires dedication, passion and, of course, comprehensive support that not only promotes sporting performance, but also academic training and employability once an athlete’s sporting career comes to an end. In this context, the High-Level Athlete Support Programme (PROAD), developed by Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD), has stood out as a valuable support tool for Spanish athletes.

With its unwavering commitment to the “dual career” approach, which seeks parallel development in both sport and other areas of life, PROAD has had a positive impact on more than 8,600 athletes, collaborating with over 7,800 organisations. In addition, it has contributed to more than 1,600 placements, demonstrating its importance within the Spanish sports landscape.

PROAD has carried out more than 509,000 educational, employment and social support actions to achieve this goal, providing athletes with personalised care tailored to their specific needs. By working closely with educational institutions and employment organisations, the programme has provided athletes with the tools needed to secure their future beyond the court or playing field.

Under this collaboration, athletes affiliated with PROAD-CSD will enjoy advantages and support when enrolling in the different master’s programmes offered by Sports Data Campus, thereby enhancing their training and development opportunities.

In the words of Diego Barrio Hernanz, Head of the High-Level Athlete Support Service at the Higher Sports Council: “From the Athlete Support Programme (PROAD), we work intensively to give our athletes access to all the resources, training and knowledge that can help their future social and professional integration.

We understand that training in data analysis and its application to sport has exceptional potential, with numerous employment opportunities, and can provide significant added professional value to athletes. We sincerely thank Sports Data Campus for its commitment to the dual career pathway by making a high-quality educational offering available to our athletes, establishing a solid bridge between the world of Big Data and the sports industry.”

This partnership also includes joint actions such as OpenClass sessions, showcasing projects focused on the use and application of data and advanced analytics in elite sport. With a consistently open line for future synergies, this alliance promises a strong educational future for Spanish athletes.

“For us, it is a source of pride to join the Athlete Support Programme (PROAD) of the Higher Sports Council (CSD). We are convinced that data analysis is a rapidly expanding discipline that will open up a new range of educational and professional opportunities for High-Level Athletes competing under the Spanish flag; and for our students, it will facilitate access to new sporting disciplines.

I would also like to publicly thank both Belén Sánchez and Belén Morán for their collaboration in making this possible,” said David Sáez, CEO of Sports Data Campus.

This agreement represents a solid partnership that supports the growth and development of high-level athletes in Spain, offering training opportunities in sports data analysis and collaboration across different areas.
