The agreement between Deportivo Cuenca and Sports Data Campus
With the aim of strengthening its digital environment through the integration of technology as a fundamental tool to achieve a leap in the quality of sports management, the Deportivo Cuenca chooses Sports Data Campus as its reference to maximize its potential. Our organization is committed to providing the club with qualified professional resources that will work complementarily with the various areas of the club, with the commitment to contribute to the growth and development of its data and advanced analytics ecosystem.
“From Deportivo Cuenca and its investment group W27 Sports/GFI, we are delighted with the collaboration agreement between the club and Sports Data Campus. One of our fundamental pillars is being leaders in the region in everything related to technology, innovation, and data development in football. It is a fantastic opportunity, and we believe that our club will benefit greatly and help us achieve the goals we have set. We thank everyone at Sports Data Campus for their kindness, closeness, and support. We look forward to hosting you in Cuenca, whenever you want,” said Alejandro Méndez, CEO of W27 Sports, the investment group of Deportivo Cuenca.

In the words of David Sáez, CEO of Sports Data Campus: “It is very important for us and for our students that we continue to open opportunities and build ties with countries of the importance of Ecuador, especially through clubs like Deportivo Cuenca, which clearly has among its goals to carry out the digital transformation processes necessary to place the club at the forefront, and among these, it demonstrates a clear commitment to generate a 360º Data Analysis Ecosystem to work in both formative categories and first teams. We especially thank Alejandro Méndez and Diego Outeiral for making this possible.”

Deportivo Cuenca is an Ecuadorian professional football club founded on March 4, 1971. The club has a long history of participation in the national championship, having been a regular participant in the country’s top division, Serie A, since its first participation in 1971. Expreso Austral was league champion in 2004 and has been runner-up five times. Their stadium is the ASA Banco del Austro, where hundreds of passionate and loyal fans attend.
The collaboration between both institutions will be extensive and cover various areas. In addition to offering opportunities for students of the Master’s programs to carry out internships at the club and develop strategies and methodologies based on Advanced Analytics, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence, they will be allowed to propose Final Master’s Projects related to the Ecuadorian entity.
The objective is to apply the knowledge acquired to real-life situations, offer recommendations, and present results that can be used in decision-making both in the sporting and administrative areas of the club. In this way, the practical application of knowledge is encouraged and contributes to the growth and development of the institution.
The agreement also involves organizing seminars, workshops, or events in collaboration within the Ecuadorian territory, enriching the experience for both parties.
