Sports Data Campus is an educational institution dedicated to training professionals in the field of sports analytics. Since its creation, it has evolved significantly thanks to its alliances with top-tier sports teams and organizations. Penya Independent SE
Societat Esportiva Penya Independent is a Spanish football club from San Miguel de Balansat, on the island of Ibiza in the Balearic Islands. It currently competes in the Segunda Federación after securing promotion in June 2023.
Club History
The club was founded in 1975 as Sociedad Deportiva Peña Independiente and adopted its current name in 2010. From the beginning, it competed in the Ibiza and Formentera regional league until 2014, when it stopped competing in order to focus exclusively on youth football. In 2019, the club’s senior team returned to official competition, rejoining the Ibiza-Formentera Regional Preferente.
In the 2021-2022 season, the club finished second in its division and qualified for the promotion play-offs to Tercera Federación. After eliminating Unión Deportiva Mahón and Club Deportivo Alayor, Penya Independent SE reached the promotion final against the reserve team of Sociedad Cultural y Recreativa Peña Deportiva. On June 19, 2022, the club’s first-ever promotion was confirmed after defeating Peña Deportiva’s reserve side by an aggregate score of 1-6.
The 2022-2023 season marked the club’s debut in the national tiers of Spanish football. At the end of the regular season, Penya finished in third place in the Balearic group and qualified for the promotion play-offs to Segunda Federación. In the regional stage, it eliminated Unión Deportiva Poblense and later Club Deportivo Santañí, securing a place in the national play-off stage.
Finally, on June 4, 2023, the team earned promotion to Segunda Federación after winning 2-0 in extra time against Sociedad Deportiva Ejea, ending the tie with a 3-1 aggregate score.
Details of the Collaboration Agreement
The collaboration agreement between Sports Data Campus and Penya Independent SE includes several key points that will benefit both students and the club:
Student Internships: Penya Independent SE will be able to host students from Sports Data Campus master’s programs as interns in any of its teams or categories. This will allow students to apply their knowledge in the real world and contribute to the club’s development.
Master’s Final Projects: Penya Independent SE will be able to propose Master’s Final Projects aligned with its working areas. Sports Data Campus will share these projects with students, who may submit their applications to be selected by the club. In addition, Sports Data Campus tutors will be assigned to ensure the optimal development of the projects.
MasterClass and Training: Professionals from Penya Independent SE will have the opportunity to deliver MasterClass sessions to show Sports Data Campus students how the club works and how its analytical ecosystem operates. There is also the possibility of jointly designing collaborative training courses in the future.
Future Synergies: The agreement leaves the door open to any other synergies that may arise from this collaboration framework, strengthening the growth and development of both parties.
