Sport and technology continue to advance together, with a growing number of initiatives seeking to introduce new tools to improve decision-making in sport. Against this backdrop, Sports Data Campus and Animus Neurociencias e Innovación have signed a collaboration agreement that will enable Sports Data Campus students to apply their knowledge to real projects and explore new perspectives in data analysis, combining technology and neuroscience to optimise sporting performance.
A partnership between Sports Data Campus and Animus Neurociencias e Innovación
Through this agreement with Animus, Sports Data Campus students will be able to undertake internships at the company, work with real player data and explore the human brain to understand how decisions are made in sport. This opportunity will bring together data analysis and neuroscience applied to sport, helping students better interpret the factors that influence athletes’ performance.
With more than ten years of experience in applied neuroscience at the time of the announcement, Animus had developed innovative strategies to enhance creativity, decision-making and mental agility in both athletes and organisations. The agreement opens up new possibilities for applying this knowledge in sport, offering a more comprehensive approach to improving player performance and optimising training and sports management strategies.

Animus and neuroscience applied to sport
Animus is dedicated to transforming businesses, organisations and athletes through the application of neuroscience. Its innovative approach seeks to understand human motivations, optimise decision-making and enhance creativity and innovation. For more than a decade, Animus has developed methods to improve athletes’ mental agility and help organisations create more effective strategies.

In sport, Animus combines neuroscience and physical preparation to support athletes through continuous improvement. Its work focuses on developing mental flexibility and adaptability, essential skills for high performance. Combined with data analysis, this knowledge can help create more efficient approaches to developing and managing sporting talent.
Studying the brain’s role in decision-making is a key aspect of sporting performance, helping us understand how athletes process information under intense pressure, manage stress and refine their responses in fractions of a second. Anticipation, decision-making under pressure and adaptation to changing situations are closely linked to mental agility, an area explored by applied sports neuroscience. Research into brain function can inform strategies to improve concentration, strategic decision-making and reaction speed, all important factors in the success of teams and individual athletes.

Key areas of the collaboration agreement
The agreement between Sports Data Campus and Animus establishes several areas of collaboration:
Student internships: Animus may welcome Sports Data Campus students into its teams and management areas, enabling them to apply their knowledge to real projects.
Projects in sports organisations: Animus will propose data analysis and neuroscience projects in which students can participate under the guidance of Sports Data Campus experts.
Masterclasses and joint training: Animus professionals may deliver specialist sessions to share their experience and knowledge with Sports Data Campus students.
Exploring further collaboration: Both organisations will remain open to future opportunities to advance the integration of data and neuroscience in sport. Whether through training programmes, innovative courses or new projects and initiatives, the aim is to remain at the forefront of developments in the sports world.
Lucas Bracamonte, Director of the Professional Extension Department at Sports Data Campus, said: “Welcoming Animus Neurociencias e Innovación to our network of partners represents a significant step in our mission to expand the boundaries of sports analysis. Neuroscience applied to sport is a fascinating field that, combined with data analysis, opens up new perspectives for our students. This partnership not only allows us to offer more comprehensive and innovative education, but also positions Sports Data Campus at the forefront of integrating technology and human behaviour in sport.”
“Animus’s experience of more than a decade studying the brain and decision-making, together with our expertise in data analysis, will create unique opportunities that directly benefit our students. We are particularly excited about the practical opportunities this agreement creates, as it will enable our students to work on projects combining Big Data, AI and neuroscience — a combination that will undoubtedly shape the future of sports analysis,” he concluded.
“This agreement represents an important milestone for us, consolidating our vision of growth and innovation. It is the result of a shared commitment to making an impact, creating new opportunities and continuing to raise our standards of excellence. We are convinced that this partnership will strengthen our progress and enable us to tackle new challenges successfully,” said Facundo Bonanno and Fernando Russo of Animus Neurociencias e Innovación.

Mutual benefits for the future of sport
This agreement offers a unique opportunity for Sports Data Campus students while also supporting Animus as it continues to integrate data analytics into its approach to neuroscience applied to sport. Bringing these disciplines together aims to optimise athletes’ performance, improve talent management and generate new strategies for decision-making in sport.
