Sports Data Campus and Fulcrum Technologies have entered into a collaboration agreement aimed at bringing future sports industry professionals closer to the latest technologies and tools for the capture, analysis and management of performance data.

The partnership will enable the development of a range of initiatives focused on specialised education in video analysis, performance data and emerging technologies applied to sport, connecting the academic expertise of Sports Data Campus with the experience and technological solutions developed by Fulcrum Technologies.

Technology and knowledge for performance analysis

One of the main objectives of the collaboration will be to demonstrate to students how the integration of video and data can help generate new insights and facilitate analysis and decision-making processes within sport.

As part of this collaboration, Fulcrum Technologies will make its expertise in vision technology, capture, analysis and performance review available to Sports Data Campus. Its Angles platform enables users to work with different video and data sources, create tags and annotations during or after capture, manage multiple video angles, and generate different presentation and export formats.

Through these tools, students will be able to gain first-hand experience of how to structure information obtained from video, transform observations into data, and use these resources to develop more comprehensive and contextualised analyses.

MasterClasses and educational initiatives

As a first initiative under the agreement, Sports Data Campus and Fulcrum Technologies may develop one or more MasterClasses and educational sessions aimed at students across the different academic programmes.

These sessions will focus on presenting the possibilities offered by video and data analysis technologies, as well as showcasing practical examples of their application across different sporting contexts.

The aim will be to provide students with a practical understanding of the processes involved in capturing, tagging, analysing and presenting information, bringing them closer to the tools and methodologies used in professional environments.

Video, data and performance analysis

The collaboration will also provide an opportunity to explore different areas of work related to performance analysis, tactical analysis, scouting and data visualisation, making use of the capabilities offered by Fulcrum’s technology.

The Angles platform enables data from different providers and formats to be imported, timelines and tags to be managed, filters to be applied to the information collected, and data to be exported in formats such as CSV, XML and JSON. These functionalities facilitate the integration of video with different analysis and reporting workflows.

In this way, the collaboration aims to demonstrate to students the importance of building analytical processes in which video and data work together to generate valuable information for coaches, analysts and sports professionals.

Education and professional development

The agreement also includes the possibility of developing new initiatives related to education, professional development and knowledge transfer.

In this regard, Sports Data Campus and Fulcrum Technologies may collaborate on the creation of content, specialised sessions, practical case studies and other activities that enable students to deepen their understanding of the technologies and methodologies associated with performance analysis.

The collaboration also opens the door to future opportunities through the Sports Data Campus Professional Extension programme, including the possibility of developing professional internships, academic projects or specific projects aligned with Fulcrum Technologies’ needs.

“Fulcrum, as a leading company in video analysis, brings our students closer to an advanced analysis ecosystem and allows them to gain first-hand experience of the tools and methodologies that are transforming this area of the sports industry. This collaboration will give our students access to one of the most advanced video analysis software solutions and allow them to experience, alongside Fulcrum, an immersive approach to the development and application of video analysis. Without a doubt, it represents an opportunity to connect education, technology and professional experience,” said Fredi Martín, Academic Director of the Master’s Degree in Football Analysis: Tactical, Video and Data Analysis.

A collaboration with a vision for the future

The partnership between Sports Data Campus and Fulcrum Technologies represents a starting point for continuing to explore new opportunities for collaboration around education, technology and innovation applied to sport.

Both organisations share the vision that video is a fundamental source for observing, understanding and analysing performance, and that combining video, data and knowledge can create new opportunities for learning and decision-making. Fulcrum Technologies’ proposition is built around the capture, analysis and review of performance data to generate new moments of learning and understanding.

Through this agreement, both organisations will work to identify new initiatives that bring technology closer to future sports professionals, nurture talent and contribute to the development of an increasingly knowledge- and data-driven sports industry.
